building availability granted by a promise of lawn from the owner, presented to the President of the Piedmont Region an application in order to obtain from the European Union and the Piedmont Region a contribution of 16 billions for a project prepared in the meantime by architects Calvi, Mellano e Toselli, and to justify the cost of the project in relation of the future contracts. The request as above couldt not be accepted for lack of funds, but the Region granted guarantees in accordance with a financial European Programme. On September 1999, the Regional Decree wich states the allocation of the UE and Regional funds to the Carraglio Community is published related to the first lot of 4,2 billion of liras. On October 15th, 1999, the Municipal Council of Caraglio entrasted a group of professionals with the task both for the preliminary and executive planning and the General Direction of the Works , for the recovery, the restauration and the reutilization of the “Filatoio Rosso”. As per the above an agreed, the Members of the “Committee Filatoio Rosso Revival ” with decreet dated March 16th, 2001, regularely accepted by the Assembly Commettee, decided to issue the “Filatoio Rosso di Caraglio” Foundation, which took the place of the Committee. The Foundation was created mainly to recover and give value to the “Filatoio Rosso di Caraglio” and to follow all the architectural restauration works and the reutilization of the building granted to the Municipality with an act of loan dated August 7th, 2001. At the end of the first lot of works (June 2001) directly followed by the Caraglio Municipality, the main tasks followed were on one side to use the premises to host important Art Exhibitions, and on the other side the revival of its industrial past. The first step in this direction has been the important recostruction of the silk twisters: enormous machines used to twist silk thread and make it more resistent. Thanks to Professor Flavio Crippa’s studies, who follows the reconstruction project, the machines are the exact copy of those used at the time of the construction of the factory, in the second half of the XVII° century, and have been positioned in the same hall and in the same place as in origin. The second restauration lot (second and third courtyard) was ended in 2006 and from 2007 onwards th Foundation is concentrated on the completion of the “Piedmont Silk Museum” . The finishing of the collateral architectonical unit and the preparation of the Silk Museum from 2007 to2017, for the restauration of Santa Filomena chapel and of the north-east tower, for the twister complementary machinery, and for the realization of a first lot of the Museum itinarary. Sunday June 18th, 2017, the new Piedmont Silk Museum was inaugurated and an updated style of collections was presented, enriched by new wooden models of perfectly 105
